Saw Star Trek last yesterday.
Infinitely times better than the mess that was Iron Man 3.
This goes without saying but Benedict Cumberbatch was spectacular. There’s just something about the quiet, sociopathic bad-guys that I could watch for ages.
Having been raised with the movies and television shows I really liked how certain roles/scenes were reversed (trying to remain spoiler free but the above gif set probably gives a pivotal scene away).

Jurassic Park 4 officially put on hold.
Official statement from Universal:
Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise’s storied history.
The Hollywood Reporter has said that the reason for the delay was because the first draft of the script was submitted on Monday and that it was “way more epic and ambitious than they were prepared for.”
It’s the Hollywood Reporter so potentially take that last aspect with a grain of salt. However, I’m hoping it’s absolutely true. Because, c’mon, I want epic Jurassic Park 4.

The World’s End trailer. This also has been making the rounds but damn if I’m not going to share the love.
Part three of the “blood and ice cream trilogy”. Also, there’s too many good movies coming out this year. Release date July 19th for Brits and August 23 for us in the States (why the hate?!?)

One of the most depressing aspects of the new Iron Man movie was the liberties taken with The Mandarin. However, this is still pretty interesting…
In an interview with Empire, director Shane Black explained the symbolism behind the Captain America tat:
The Captain America tattoo on the back of The Mandarins neck] was actually part of the design of the Mandarin. He’s very cobbled together. Its essentially a Captain America shield with an anarchy symbol in the middle of it. It’s a corruption of America again.
Co-writer Drew Pearce also weighed in with his thoughts:
It was that brilliant kind of mash up vibe of, How would a think tank create a terrorist? And the way that they would do it in their own wanky way is to put together a mood board of all of the symbols of modern Western power. And I think post The Battle Of New York, Caps shield would be one of them.

The Unused Opening Title Credits For ‘Iron Man 3′.
I’m a bad lil’ geek and didn’t see Iron Man 3 opening day (saw it last night). Some aspects were beautifully shot but overall I found the movie pretty disappointing. Major characters being completely altered in horrendous ways, an annoying brat child that helps save the day, and a character I had hoped would play a semi-large role in the movie was reduced to a couple of sentences. At least there’s Thor 2 later on this year.
And it boggles my mind that people STILL leave before the credits finish during a Marvel movie. As in, I want to stand up and yell at them.
That being said, the credits (both the unused and used) are wonderfully comic book 80’s.
