Thor: The Dark World updates.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has been added to the cast, playing villain Algrim the Strong (aka Kurse). In the comics, Algrim the Strong was coerced by Malekith to fight Thor. After being betrayed by Malekith and injured during battle, Algrim is transformed into Kurse, a being twice as powerful as Thor.
And, sadly, it’s been confirmed Kat Dennings will reprise her role. And for some reason the rumor wheel is saying she’ll be providing a “human look” for The Enchantress.
Just…ano. I’m sorry, but she’s a worthless sidekick. Adds nothing to the storyline. And it’s believed her character will be have a larger role in the sequel.
With the plethora of villains and everyone supposedly having “larger roles”, I already fear this sequel is going to be very convoluted. Loki (deservingly), Malekith, Algrim, and Alice Krige’s character (who I’m now convinced more than ever she’ll be playing Alfyse since they are clearly focusing on the Svartalfheim realm) will all be villains. Add the father/son dynamics of Thor and Odin. Can’t get rid of that, it’s crucial in the comics. Add the unnecessary presence of Kat Dennings character. And Rene Russo having a larger role (at least Frigga is justified). Plus visiting (or at least showcasing) the other realms mentioned in the first movie. On top of it all, the focus of Thor/Jane’s romance (which I’m 110% for).
Curious to see how they’re going to pull all this off. Or how much is going to end up on the cutting room floor.
